Shaun - Head Coach

Boxing, KickBoxing, Karate

Head coach

I started my training as a 5 year old, I was keen to learn Karate as a kid. I started training with Sama Organisation under Hanshi Gibson. I studied traditional Wado-Ryu Karate under Hanshi's tutelage and spent more than 20 years doing so. I also studied American KickBoxing with Sama too.

I travelled the UK / Europe competing at the highest levels within Karate. I won lots of tournaments through my competing days in Karate up to European level.

I have trained a few different styles since leaving Sama including Boxing, Chinese Boxing, Judo, BJJ and Taekwondo too.

My current qualifications are 3rd degree black belt in Karate, and and 3rd degree black belt in KickBoxing, I'm a qualified Boxing coach too. These qualifications can be validated through British Martials Arts & Boxing Association (BMABA).

My passion is to share the skill set I learned throughout my years of training. In my opinion Its really beneficial for kids / young adults & adults to have a safe place to train and let off some steam, which is why I've dedicated pretty much my whole adult life into coaching / sharing my knowledge.

Andy - Assistant Coach

Boxing, KickBoxing

Second coach

I have trained in a few types of martial arts including Shotokan Karate , American KickBoxing and Boxing. I have competed in all three, Including being the main event fighter for the WRSA English title for KickBoxing.

Since then, my aim is to help the next generation with their skills that I have picked up other the years. My specialty is realistic pad holding for boxers, interpreting their opponents.

I have had some amazing help myself with incredible trainers including  Dominic Ingle from the world famous Ingles gym. I also love how this sport can help you mentally and physically. I’m proud to be able to help others achieve their goals.

Boxing

I began training with Shaun and Andy at the age of 14. At the time, I struggled with anxiety and lacked confidence in social situations. Boxing didn’t come naturally to me, I never enjoyed confrontation, but through training I learned the importance of facing challenges rather than avoiding them.

Since then, I’ve competed in multiple boxing bouts, winning titles along the way, and I continue to compete to this day. My coaching journey started under Shaun’s guidance, but over the years I’ve been fortunate to learn from many different fighters and coaches. Those experiences have played a big role in shaping my approach and teaching style.

I now work closely with many teenagers, helping them develop their boxing skills, stay consistent, and build confidence both inside and outside the gym.

I understand first-hand how important it is to have something challenging to work towards. Boxing provides structure, discipline, and an outlet, especially for young people. It’s not just about learning to fight; it’s about building resilience, confidence, and having a positive escape from the pressures of everyday life.

Boxing

I began my boxing journey in 2016 with Focus Fit, initially just as something fun to get involved in. Over time, that interest grew into a real passion, and I transitioned into the competitive side of the sport. Since then, I’ve fought all around the UK, appearing on some big shows and gaining valuable experience every time I step into the ring.

Boxing has taught me far more than just how to fight. It builds self-discipline, respect for others, and the mindset needed to become a better person both inside and outside the gym. These values carry over into everyday life and shape how you approach challenges.

Alongside competing, I genuinely enjoy teaching boxing, especially working with people who are willing to give 100% in every session. Boxing isn’t a sport where you can take shortcuts—if you’re serious about stepping into the ring, the work has to be put in. It’s one of the toughest sports out there, but also one of the most rewarding, pushing you mentally and physically like nothing else.
